Several months ago a previous room mate from college emailed me about doing a mural for the home for disabled women she works at (check them out here). After emails being forgotten, snow storms delaying budget meetings and general busyness -- it finally happened!!! Yesterday and today I got to throw paint and draw on a wall - every child's dream! The pictures are posted on my portfolio page, but here's a taste:
The original concept I pitched to the kind folks at Camelot was:
Echoing Camelot’s mission statement of comfort, freedom and growth of the residents, wildflowers thrive where they find roots and their diversity is their beauty. Abstract fields of color behind line drawings of flowers edge their way up the wall, across to the adjoining wall over the door way, greeting residents, staff and visitors as they enter.
The concept piece I sent them I actually didn't look at again until just now, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Here's a peak behind the curtain:

Before, Concept, After |
It was a lot of fun to do something this big, and it had just been a long time since I had gotten paint on my hands. And the residents were around and got to see the progress, which was cool.
Fun fact! Sharpie Poster Paint pens are great!!!
Beautiful!
