So I've been trying to practice my digital painting and be more consistent about drawing as much as possible. Today I realized I draw/paint a lot of women, mostly because I am one of those, and a mirror is the easiest way to get a model to do what I want (mostly). So I decided to paint a dude.
I am a huge (HUGE) fan of the Thrilling Adventure Hour podcast, a stage production recorded as a "new-time podcast in the style of old-time radio", and absolutely adore comedian Paul F. Tompkins (check out his podcast, only the greatest Tompkast ever recorded). So here is a portrait of PFT based off a photograph by Allan Amato taken at the 7th anniversary TAH show, in character as The King of Coffee. It is a really beautiful photograph - I had way too much fun putting my spin on it. (Because people are going to ask: it took me about 4 1/2 hours.)
Yay!
And if you're not listening to the Thrilling Adventure Hour... seriously, what's wrong with you?
That's beautiful, Beth! I love the soft focus in most of the portrait and then the clarity of the face.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic! Hooray for TAH fans!
