Hero Boy chapter 2?

So most of you know, because of my own shameless self promotion, that I made a comic book. It was supposed to be a gift for my then-boyfriend, and it was basically the story of "us".

Well, we broke up.

But that doesn't mean I stopped being proud of the book, because I spent 5 months of artistic energy on it. It was the first thing I did digitally, and holding a physical copy of it was an excitement I haven't felt about art in a long time. It gave me a taste for something that I can't just give up.

BUT I still want to finish the story. However I want to be sensitive since the characters are based on real people, and they know it. So I've spent the past four months every now and then toying around with how to write a  respectful yet interesting way to do the next leg of Hero Boy and Betsy's story. The romantic in me says there's not a way to write it without the characters trying their hardest to get back together. I certainly don't want to write this as a kind of propaganda. I always find it more interesting when stories play off-type (example: the movie "Once"), but just having the characters end their relationship without high stakes and drama doesn't seem right to the genre. The story is exaggerated and cheesy...and sappy doesn't just give up because of personal differences.

So tonight when I was getting ready for bed (read: a horrible time for inspiration to hit), an idea came to me. I'm so excited about how this story could go, and still reflect the real-life story (to some extent). I feel like it sticks to the genre of cheesy comics, respects the people the characters are based on, doesn't have bitter undertones (as a break up story based on real life could) and could end up actually being a very beautiful story.

I have no idea when I'll draw it since I have like 6 other projects further up the to-do list and a full time job (yay!). It probably won't be printed like the previous chapter - probably just released online - but hopefully it will be made...someday.

*sigh* I like comics.
