It...is....FINISHED!!!!

As Ben told me a few weeks ago, "You used to have a blog..."

Yes, yes I did.

I have triumphantly returned to tell you: THE COMIC BOOK IS DONE AND IN MY HANDS! (Well, not literally because I'm typing.) I am beyond thrilled about how it came out, and also can't believe it is done. I started it in October (I think...maybe it was September?) thinking it'd be done for our 6 month anniversary in November.

Cut to March. Silly me...

I can't describe to you how cool it is to hold the physical copy of something I made purely digitally. Having seen it only on my computer screen, and then am able to flip through the pages? It is beyond cool. I don't know how webcomics creators don't implode every time they publish a book of their strips. It's just way too fun. I think I'm addicted. :)

I'll put it up for sale on Lulu next week (once Thomas has his copy, because, after all, it is FOR HIM anyway...). Physical copy will be $10 plus shipping, digital will be $3. I highly suggest getting the physical form because it just looks so much prettier in print. I think my profit margin is about the same regardless (hashtag: print is expensive).

But anyway, it is done and I can now start on the web comic which I am equally thrilled about.

Since I last blogged a lot has happened, I guess. Emerald City Comicon came and went. It was a BLAST, although nothing career altering happened. Thomas and I went all 3 days (first year they've expanded to the entire weekend! Congrats ECCC!) which ended up being a good idea so we didn't feel rushed to see everything in one day. We skipped out on the William Shatner talk and walked the floor during that time. Having 3000 people gone at that time was great. Notable fun times included Wil Wheaton's panel on Friday (his story about Scrabble with his wife was very sweet); seeing my friend Maria practically pass out after getting her picture taken with Buffy's James Marsters; The Guild panel featuring my personal gal-crush Felicia Day; meeting a few of Thomas's childhood friends who create a webcomic (It Gets Worser) and being able to talk shop with them; the Web Comics Weekly panel ranked #2 of my favorite parts of the weekend. And #1 all time favorite part of the weekend? I'll let this picture tell the story:
<--- That's me and freaking Felicia Day! I adore her, not only for her part in my favorite thing ever, Dr. Horrible, but for her pioneering in "I don't need permission to make great art" web business stuff. And she's just a really cool nerdy gal.

Also, I had her sign my Dr. Horrible calendar, the month of May, which is a screen shot of a scene of "My Eyes" where she and Nathan Fillion are on a bench eating frozen yogurt and Neil Patrick Harris is in the background behind a fake bush. She looked at the picture and went, "Wait, this is a picture from rehearsal! I had different shoes on for the actual shot." She also said it was the first calendar she's every signed, so she wrote a big "#1" next to it. I think my goal is to get the other two gents to sign it as well. But if I ever met Mr. Fillion I might just stare, drool then pass out, so for my dignity I might want to avoid that.

So thanks Felicia for being so awesome. Is it safe to say we're besties now? (Answer: no.)

SofaWolf Press was there and I bought all 5 volumes of Digger (buy 4 get the 5th free? Yeah ok!). Unfortunately Ursula Vernon was not, but some day I'll meet her and tell her how much I adore her beautiful strip...

WHICH IS NOW OVER. Yup, yesterday Digger ended for good. I got a little misty eyed when she tweeted that the last strip was up. It felt like an abrupt ending, but I'm holding out for an epilogue in the 6th volume that comes out this summer. Long live Digger, in our hearts forever!

Well, that's about all I have to catch the blogosphere up on. I'll try to blog more now that I am actually starting the webcomic, and this blog is supposed to be about that.

Ha, right.
